Getting here

Noss Head is surprisingly simple to get to! We are a long way from most places, but not hard to find.

By car or bike:

We are 10 minutes from Wick and half an hour South of John o’Groats by car.

North Coast 500:

We are a mile or so from the North Coast 500, Scotland’s new scenic route “full of fairy-tale castles, beaches and ruins” — and lighthouses!

By air:

There are daily* flights to Wick from Edinburgh and Aberdeen; the flights fill up fast so be sure to book ahead. Some people walk to Noss Head from the airport, but you can also book a taxi or hire a car.

* except Saturdays

Take the Caledonian Sleeper from London and wake up in Inverness:

This is our favourite way to travel – spend the evening in London, sleep on the train, have breakfast in Inverness. Then either take the Far North Line up to Wick or hire a car and enjoy the final section of the North Coast 500 driving up the A99.

If you go home by train in the summer, you will spend the long light of the northern evening travelling on one of the most scenic railway journeys in the world going South through the Scottish Highlands.

By ferry:

If you’ve been to Orkney, then come back via Pentland Ferries (known locally as Banks’ Boat for the family who set up and run the service). Instead of driving South, take a few days to to explore Caithness and Sutherland from Noss Head.
